Joyce studied Midwifery at the University of Midwifery 
Education, Maastricht and Educational Sciences at Utrecht University (MA degree).
Since 2001, she works as a teacher and educational developer at AVAG Midwifery academy Amsterdam Groningen. In 2015 she started as junior researcher at the department research in education, VUmc school of medical science.
In 2018, Joyce became a PhD student. Her research topic is education and training in Autonomy supportive prenatal consultation.
